Welcome!

Meet Your Therapist

Mimi Goldsmith

Australian Counselling Association Membership (#29789)

Equine Assisted Mental Health Practitioner (cert#20248)

Welcome, my name is Mimi

Since before I can remember I have always shared a connection with animals and the world they live in, more so than with people in many ways. I grew up exploring the natural world around me, with my beautiful family and more often than not with a dog, a horse or really any animal that I could befriend in tow. Being immersed in nature, alongside a being that I share a connection with has always been my happy place and my foolproof way to regulate my nervous system and survive, even thrive in the world. This is what has fueled my passion and what I hope to be able to hold space for others to experience. I am passionate about starting from the ground up and building strong foundations that help us to better manage the world around us and all of the things that get thrown at us throughout our lifetimes. This is also the outlook I take on as a horse trainer, teaching foals and older horses who may have missed out or experienced trauma, basic skills that regulate their nervous systems in times of stress, excitement, fear and sadness.

My therapeutic practice is trauma informed and based on facilitating self awareness, of mind and body, understanding our nervous systems and how to regulate them, emotional regulation, connection and communication. Skills that help us to move through surviving and into thriving.

Principles of Practice

Stable Instinct Therapy is a trauma informed service that operates on principles of mutual respect for one another, our horses and the land. Curiosity of individual experiences and internal worlds. Belonging, inclusion and equality for all. Safety within ourselves, with each other, the horses and within nature. Advocacy for choice and wellbeing for humans and our horses alike. We aim to hold space for and facilitate empowerment and self growth with trust, transparency and collaboration.
